It also depicts a drawing or engraving of the Equestrian statue of Louis XIV cast by Balthasar Keller in a single pour in 1692 and erected in the Place Louis le Grand (Place Vendome) in 1699 and destroyed during the French Revolution 1792.

Bronze Busts by Hubert le Sueur in the Royal Collection


The Bronze Busts by Hubert le Sueur 
in the Royal Collection.

All these busts are currently located in the upper Orangery at Hampton Court.
The socles have been cast separately.

These busts were commissioned by Charles I and cast by Hubert le Sueur - they were acquired in 1736/7 Invoiced at £30 each the final price paid was £24.

For the most recent studies of the works of Le Sueur see - Studies in Sculpture by Charles Avery, pub. Victoria and Albert Museum, 1981.
